Kratos Defense Broke Ground on $50M Hypersonic Facility in Odon
April 2, 2025
ODON, Ind. — In March, 2025, Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. officially broke ground on its new Indiana Payload Integration Facility (IPIF) at WestGate@Crane Technology Park, marking a significant milestone in Indiana’s growing defense innovation sector.
The $50 million, 68,000-square-foot facility will support the Multi-Service Advanced Capabilities Hypersonic Testbed (MACH-TB) program, accelerating the development and testing of hypersonic vehicles and payloads. The IPIF will feature full-scale environmental testing and advanced digital engineering capabilities to support rapid and affordable preparation of experimental systems.
“This facility represents a strategic investment in our nation’s hypersonic infrastructure, workforce, and capabilities,” said Eric DeMarco, President and CEO of Kratos.
The facility is expected to be operational by late 2026, creating over 100 high-tech jobs with average annual wages exceeding $80,000. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) has pledged up to $9 million in tax credits and incentives to support Kratos’ expansion.
Kratos’ investment also complements its partnership with RAFAEL Advanced Defense Systems Ltd., forming Prometheus Energetics LLC, a new U.S.-based supplier of solid rocket motors and energetics headquartered on a 550-acre campus in Bloomfield, Indiana.
This groundbreaking marks Kratos’ first major infrastructure investment in Indiana and reinforces the state’s growing reputation as a national leader in defense innovation and advanced manufacturing.
