MEDIA BRIEF: Daviess County Economic Development participates with state leaders in healthcare policy forum.

Indiana Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch, Indiana State Health Commissioner and others take part in day-long conference on advancing quality of healthcare in rural Indiana.

INDIANAPOLIS – Driving job creation and workforce development were among the topics addressed by an economic development panel moderated by Ron Arnold, executive director of the Daviess County Economic Development Corporation, at the 14th Annual Indiana Public Policy Forum of the Indiana Rural Health Association (IRHA) January 24.

The panel, which was part of the day-long annual IRHA policy conference, included Dr. Matt Will (finance associate professor) of the University of Indianapolis; Mayor Shawna Girgis of Bedford; Mayor Chris Ferency of Franklin and Arnold. According to Don Kelso, IRHA executive director, the Daviess County Economic Development Corporation was chosen as a participant because of “its premier status as a successful organization for Indiana rural development.”

Arnold said he was pleased to be a part, “given the critical nature of quality healthcare and its role in workforce development.” Arnold added: “High-performance healthcare delivery and economic development must be joined at the hip for Indiana to advance.”

Other participants at the day-long conference at the Hyatt Regency in Indianapolis included Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch, Dr. Jerome Adams, Indiana State Health Commissioner, and Brock Slabach, senior vice president of the National Rural Health Association (NRHA)
